Angels and Devils

 

I enjoy comics/ cartoons that had this battle between the little devil and angel - Tom & Jerry was probably the earliest I can remember.

I've been MIA for months this year. A lot of the time, my dry eyes cause so much strain that I don't feel like drawing. But I need to persevere. Can't give in to the side that says I can do it later. 

I had a couple of scripts done for this but it seemed so much more intriguing to leave it to your imagination.

Invasive siblings

My sister will tell you that this isn't just a thing of the past but a regular occurrence even today. This simply means that we aren't done growing up.

 

Why so paranoid?

 

I'd scribbled this idea down ages ago and it still cracked me up so I'm glad I finally got around to drawing some version of it! I will probably make this paranoid shark a recurring character. 

Shark Awareness

 

Sorry I'm a day late with these! It's been a while since I did a comic with the other characters and the human so it seemed rather apt. 

EarPods, Eye-pods and Copepods

For those of you who don't know, the Greenland Shark (Somniosus microcephalus) have these little parasitic copepods (Ommatokoita elongata) attached to the corneas of their eyes. They don't help with the vision, but luckily sharks have other senses to help them stay on top of things.

It's been a while since I did a comic panel and this has been in the pipeline for a while and I didn't want to wait any longer.

Remoras, Pilots and Copepods

It's good to be back. I've always enjoyed cartoons that help you put your tiny problems in perspective while also teaching you wonderful lessons about life and the world. For those of you don't know the companions to the sharks, we have:
Pilot Fish:
While these fish do prefer Oceanic whitetip sharks, I had to choose between a sucker fish on The Shark vs being followed by a striped fish and I think the latter appealed more. Here's a bit more information on pilot fish.
Remora:
These unique fish have a suction cup on top of their heads which helps them to attach themselves to sharks and other creatures. This way they can eat scraps around their host and clean their host's skin too.
 Which brings us to why the Greenland shark is annoyed. There's a tiny little parasite, a copepod (Ommatokoita elongata) that attaches itself to the EYE of these sharks!
So, when one considers all that they have to complain about for the day, do remember that at least you don't have a copepod hanging from your eye. If you do, I suggest you try and make friends since you're going to be together for a long time.

Global Tiger Day

I drew this in kind of a hurry so I apologise if my Tiger doesn't look real enough (either the Tiger Tiger or the Tiger Shark). Tigers are one of my favourite animals and it's simply amazing to see them in the wild. I really hope that people would do everything they can to make sure we keep seeing them in the wild for generations to come.
ps - In case you didn't notice, the Tiger couldn't help but roll its eyes.

The Shark vs. Batman: Sharkham, here I come.

My apologies to all Bat-Fans out there. I'm not exactly sure why my Shark likes to pick on Superheroes. But as you can see, it's so darn easy. 

ps - I love Batman and Dracula ain't too dull either. 

The hammer-wielding god of blunder

This cracked me up even before I started drawing it. The Shark as Thor wielding a hammerhead? Talk about god of blunder!

Tyrant King vs Megalodumb

After watching "Jurassic World" twice, I couldn't help but draw a Tyrannosaurus Rex cartoon. It remains the king. I'll probably make this little guy a regular.

Fifty Sharks of Grey Answered!

Here are answers to my Fifty Sharks! I retained the previous numbers although I had to move them around. When I make them into posters, I will put the numbers in order so that it doesn't drive me crazy thinking it's completely disorderly. I also had to correct the colouring on shark #10 (the Shyshark). I'm probably not very accurate on the colouring/shapes of many of these but I hope their activities would have given you a clue as to what they were.

Psycho Squirrels attack Shark.

I know what you're thinking - "Red pandas are not squirrels". Well, FYI, that's supposed to be a Giant Indian Squirrel or Malabar squirrel. They're really cute in reality and I doubt they'd attack sharks like that. I couldn't however say the same for the regular squirrel/chipmunk. They're nasty little creatures.
I've seen a Flying Squirrel but not in flight. And I've only seen them at night (meaning, I've only seen their eyes). So for all I know, they're probably just bats with geeky teeth.

Water Ferret gets the last laugh!

I recently went to Kumarakom (Kerala) in India with my family and while we were out on the backwaters on a boat, we saw a couple of river otters. They are really cute and I want one as much as I want a ferret. They do rather look like ferrets.
However, I still think everyone would have been far more excited if they saw a shark though.

ps - Liz Climo also has a cute comic with a shark and an otter. This could be a tribute!

The Shark Tooth Fairy Quits!

Sharks could make a load of money this way! The Shark Tooth Fairy might go bankrupt though. I was playing around with a few ideas for this - one with The Shark being all industrious and on its way to being a millionaire, another with the regular tooth fairy threatening to quit and finally deciding on a tooth fairy exclusively for the sharks.

Nightsharks #2

This was part of my original vision for my Nighthawks parody. I think it would be rather fun to have coffee with Shaaark!  by Phil Watson and Sherman from Sherman's Lagoon by Jim Toomey. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to draw their sharks but they look recognizable enough, don't they?

I'd like to have a fourth shark to take the place of the barista though.

The Shark Ages

A while ago I wanted to rename this comic strip to "The Shark Ages" and announce the change with this strip. But several people said they actually like the title "Oh, Dakuwaqa!" so I guess I'll leave it that way for now. Besides, The Shark dressed in armor for no reason is funnier.

Hornbill if you love Sharks!

I wanted to draw cartoons with some of the endangered and/or interesting animals found in India and the Great Indian Hornbill was one of them. I was lucky enough to see one in flight recently and they are magnificent.

Not another cat one!

Just when you think sharks are growing in popularity, a cat comes along and ruins everything. That's just what cats do.
Okay, I must admit that some of their pictures are rather likeable. But sharks are awesomer.

The Shark with the salamander tattoo

I was sure someone must have done a Salamander version of Lisbeth Salander. I couldn't find anything on google so I'm hoping this is the first :D
I loved the Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson - and I was especially impressed with the character of Lisbeth. I hope my drawing kind of looks like her (or at least the movie version of her).

Move over Cats!

I thought I'd try out a horizontal strip for a change.
With all the new comics featuring really adorable sharks, it's time the cats moved over. They still have priceless expressions though. We'll use them sporadically. :D
