Cynic of the year

I had to do this sketch to put my "Nothing in life is ever that great" quote in context. Well, it also makes sense in many other contexts but the first frame was the scenario of the original occurrence.
My cousin, new to skyping, wanted to know if these voice fades/breaks were common and why they did that. Hence my response. She said that I'd taken cynicism to a whole new level when what I should have said is "No free thing is ever that great".
And apparently, this is the best quote I've ever said in all my life.

The glass is always half...

I got this idea from something my mum said when she ate most of my sister's caramel popcorn and the put the remaining kernels in the little tupperware box. While coming up with the sketch version, I knew I had to bring in the annoying, ever-optimistic bear and a reference to the "half empty vs half full" idea. And how the notion that everything is half full can come around to bite your bottom. Yes, the cynicism only gets worse.

ps - Assuming that no one can figure out what the drawings are because, let's face it, it looks like they could be holding just about anything in their "hands"- In frame 2, the bear transfers the chocolate milk from the glass to a smaller glass. And in the final frame, the shark transfers the remaining popcorn into a smaller box.

Walking the cat, walking the line

Hmm, the text looks a bit too large, doesn't it? Oh well.
I like how the cat came out. Cartoon comic cats are cute and hilarious. Real life cats, not so much.

Dear Penpal,remember me? muahahaha.

While visiting a friend recently, she showed me some old "Target" magazines and I remembered how much we enjoyed it back then when we didn't really have many young peoples' magazines to choose from. I also remember that they had penpal columns through which I had a few penpals from across the country. It was so exciting to get letters from friends even though you'd never met them.
Then we realised that there is NO way we'd give out our home addresses in a public forum like that these days. Somewhere between then and now, the world became less innocent & safe and more cynical and predatory. While human nature probably hasn't changed much, I see how much more widespread evil has become and thereby increasing paranoia everywhere! It's a shame that penpals have become obsolete or that e-pals/facebook pals isn't really a replacement.

ps - The human has shoes in frame 2 but not in frame one because this is happening later. That's why.

You had me at first punch.

I was supposed to post this at least a month ago when I got back from my awesome Australian holiday. I had high hopes on being on time. I love Wallabies and Pademelons and Quolls and every other creature I saw in the wilderness. I did not, however, see sharks in the wild whilst snorkeling - although I saw plenty of those silly coloured fish that I had to keep shooing away. I would probably need to go back and spend days on a boat or under water and pray that I get lucky. But I did get to see some reef sharks and nurse ones (not so cute) in the Aquariums. They. Were. Amazing.
