No touchy

This was an idea for India's first dive expo - Most divers are extremely respectful towards marine life and that is why one of the first things they insist is for all snorkelers and divers to not touch fish, coral or anything in the water. It's not a petting zoo, people.

Look Deeper #2: Hotdogfish?

I don't think they put dogfish in hotdogs but they certainly are consumed in other forms. These sweet sharks (especially the spiny dogfish) are in extreme danger of extinction because people sell these as fish and chips, rock salmon and such. Please know what it is exactly that you are buying. Sharks are not even good for you. It's less good for the shark.

Happy World Oceans Day 2015!

I hadn't read the theme for this year's World Oceans Day (Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet) when I started drawing this. It ended up to be quite fitting. I wanted to draw the alternative scenario of a despondent ocean but for now, I'll leave us with happy thoughts. It's a colourful, mysterious, beautiful world down there and we seem to take it for granted and assume we have the right to control or trespass or violate it as we wish. Respect the Oceans and allow all the creatures to play their roles in nature. Not just today but everyday.
Happy Oceans, Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet, Happy Planet.

ps - The Manatee is playing a guitarfish, okay?

Be a Dog Person: Deep Sea Sharks #3

Next in the Deep Sea Sharks campaign for Fin Fighters - Dogfish! I didn't know there were so many varieties of dogfish until recently.  I tried to choose a couple of different ones to give you a scope . These cute sharks are being sold off as fish and chips and other menu items.

Look Deeper #1: Fin & Chips

This is something I worked on for another upcoming project from Fin Fighters UK about many businesses selling shark under other names. Many times, one may not know exactly what fish it is that they may be eating.
I recently heard that they sell dogfish under the name rock salmon. I'm looking forward to this campaign kicking off soon.

Not just a pretty face: Deep Sea Sharks #2

Here's another interesting shark from the Deep Sea Sharks campaign - The Goblin Shark. If you haven't watched a video of the Goblin Shark eating its prey, do it now. It is weird and cool.

Frilled to be a Shark! - Deep Sea Sharks #1

I've been working with Fin Fighters on their new campaign to raise awareness about deep sea sharks. Here's a sneak preview of what is to come.
I must admit that I didn't particularly fancy several of these species and thought a lot of them looked similar (especially when I try to draw them) but once I started finding them interesting and needing to be recognised as sharks too. They add to the amazing tapestry of shark varieties and what makes them so fascinating.
The Frilled Shark is one of them. I found it a bit tricky to draw but when I finished the drawing, the caption happened quite easily.
