Are you saying Mickey Mouse looks evil?

Several people ask me why I like sharks. When I ask them why they don't, some of them have said that it's because sharks have these black dots for eyes which look cold, dead and serial-killery. The comeback didn't pop-up right away because I only realised some days later just how many of the great cartoon characters had such eyes. No one calls these characters scary looking and didn't the new Tintin movie raise some questions about how his humanized blue eyes made him look expressionless when compared to his original black dot (that's right) eyes? 

I [deliberately] drew these characters with flaws so that you'd know I didn't trace them :p. To give credit where credit is due, the characters are:

1. Classic Mickey Mouse - Walt Disney

2. Lego guy

3. Tintin (he's so hard to draw) - Hergé

4. Benny from Top Cat (Hanna-Barbera)

5. Barney Rubble from The Flintstones (Hanna-Barbera)

6. Snoopy - Charles M.Schulz

7. Zebra - Stephan Pastis

8. Little Miss Sunshine - Roger Hargreaves

9. Greg Heffley (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) - Jeff Kinney

10. Dennis the Menace - Hank Ketcham

So, stop being an eye-ist! (since we're being ridiculous about the "ists" anyway)

Yes, staplers with sharks on them work better.

A couple of weeks ago, I came across these staplers and of course, I wanted them. They're quite expensive so I had to give up any hope of owning one. But my sister was like, "why do you need this stapler? you have other ones!" and I'm thinking "but none of them have sharks on them!". Even though they practicality may be the same, an item with some sort of added design gives it an additional edge over ones that don't. And if that added design imitates nature in any way, that makes it even better. I do have a pink hippo nail brush which I simply had to have when I was eight years old (I wonder why I bought it because I don't even like hippos that much).

I guess people have always had some sort of inclination towards man-made objects that are likenesses of other natural creatures. They're great fun as toys and tools for imagination - who wouldn't want a stapler that could eat your cat? - but I probably need to keep my "fondness" from turning into an obsession, huh? (Movies teach me so much!).
