Tribute #9: She-Ra & SwiftWind
This would've worked with Starlite from Rainbow Brite as well. I watched the He-Man & She-Ra movie and the Rainbow Brite movie so many times primarily because of their horses (I really really liked horses back then!). I could've done both versions but that would have been overdoing it. So I had to choose between the horses and I guess the flying unicorn won over the rainbow coloured hair horse (which would've required me to colour it in).
I must say that drawing She-Ra tired me out - I couldn't even draw her that well (He-Man was so much easier, with the abs and all). I would have left her out completely but then the sketch wouldn't have made sense.

Desperate ways to get yourself married #3: T-shirts
I was chatting with a friend on twitter last night and somewhere along the silly banter, I thought of this as a t-shirt idea. Then we decided that it would actually make a marketable product. So, here begins the "Oh, Dakuwaqa!" apparel company. If you see this line on a t-shirt soon (since my laziness will cause it to happen later than sooner), please know that I've been ripped off.
This of course led to this:

Sharks - we transport prophets better!
My old Reader's Digest book on Sharks had this bit under chapters on history/myth and I remembered it all of a sudden. I have nothing against whales - they're quite nice, especially orcas. But they're not sharks ;) (And not just in the animal classification way).
Do not trust your sister with your shark.
I thought I'd take a break from doing all the posting (yes, I actually have a comic strip done for today - told you I was on a roll!) and post something my sister drew in my scribble book. She has a habit of writing/doodling in other people's personal notebooks. This is her evil version of a "Oh, Dakuwaqa!" strip - that's supposed to be her eating, um, fried shark (eyelashes? really!). How mean is that? And that giant scribble next to her is her "when-I'm-famous" autograph.
I'm putting this up while she's away!

Tribute #8: ThunderCATS
This is a 2-in-1 tribute to the Thundercats and Cats the musical (that's supposed to be a "Cats" t-shirt, by the way). Well, the idea of the Thundercats dancing at the Jellicle Ball cracked me up.
After doing this, I've come to appreciate all the people who drew for the Thundercats cartoons/comics so much. There are a few more cats but I'd had enough - I didn't even have the energy to finish some of these. Thank God for photoshop! But I probably should finish Lion-o's sword. 80's cartoons had a lot of awesome swords.
ps - This is my 100th post!! =D
Tribute #7: He-Man & BattleCat
For those of you who may not, unfortunately, know "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe", BattleCat (/Cringer) is green. I wish I could have coloured it in, but okay, drawing BattleCat was not easy. Colouring him would've made me lose it. He-Man was fun to draw though. I loved this cartoon and toys while growing up. I wish I still had them!
There's some amazing He-Man art out there on Deviantart and others, if anyone's interested.

Public message #2: Driving & Road rules
There are a lot of things that annoy me about the way we treat our country. Like the lack of respect for public property, other people, natural beauty and resources. It's as if we Indians have started settling for less than what we ought to be. I was on the train recently and there were cockroaches everywhere and no one seemed to be bothered. People piss on our roads and spit everywhere as if they are unaware that people usually spit on something they are disgusted with.
Does India come with a big sign that says "Spit here"? (I need to do a doodle for that!)
How did we reach that state of mind where we allow our quality of life to be this pathetic?
Anyway, as I was saying, a lot of things about our attitudes annoy me. One of them is the absolutely stupid and unbelievably disrespectful way we treat our roads and driving. I mean, some of them actually are in a hurry to be organ donors! (Not an original line - stole it from my dad). Since I use my comic to vent, here goes.
I'm not insulting India, just us Indians. We need to stop insulting India. How's this for a belated Republic day message?
ps - I don't know how the shark suddenly got to teach as if in a classroom. I thought the glasses would make it look smart!

The importance of social networking sites
Did you know that some people check their email, text inbox and facebook notifications about 60 times in a minute? It seems like they do.
And apparently, the people you facebook/text the most are the ones you see the most*. So, you're not really keeping in touch with the rest but social networking sites make you feel like you are.
There's a parallel universe scene to this strip which will be up soon.
* Of course, none of this applies to my beaver, cat and other creature friends.
ps - Hopefully my white-paper type title will get me some professor-type audiences.

Pin-Up #44: Ace Ventura falls into another Shark trap
I loved Ace Ventura (& Jim Carrey) - the shark tank bit was my favourite, of course. Reading some old Archie comics reminded me of the pin-up pages between stories. So I thought I'd call my single frame ones "Pin-ups". Two tributes in one. I'll definitely do a proper Archie tribute soon.

A day AT the beach, not ON it.
It's true. I dislike the beach. Water is good, sand is bad.
Serious side note reminded by the animal rights reference: It's good that we have organisations that fight against animal abuse but I hope that everyone fights against abuse in any form and that nothing is given a greater priority than
ps - The original script mentioned a particular organisation but I decided to change it as I didn't agree with some of their publicity views after reading an article on a Melinda's website.

Shark pedicures, anyone?
There's a new spa place in town that has this freak pedicure treatment where they have fish, yes live flesh eating mini-piranhas, that clean away the dead skin on your feet. It's only a matter of time before they get a taste for human flesh. Can you blame me for not wanting to try it? As usual, some of my insane-evil friends have been persuading me to do it because they all have. The photos were enough to scare me.
